Bosch Live Data Plus Scan Tool: The OBD 1100 (Discontinued)

The Bosch OBD 1100, a compact yet powerful scan tool, was designed for diagnosing vehicle issues. While this model has been discontinued by Bosch, it’s worthwhile to examine its capabilities. This device could read and clear engine Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) on all 1996 and newer import and domestic vehicles sold in the USA compliant with OBD II and CAN standards, including some 1994 and 1995 models.

Beyond basic DTC retrieval and clearing, the OBD 1100 offered access to freeze frame data, permanent DTCs, VIN information, and Inspection Maintenance (I/M) readiness monitor status. Furthermore, it provided live data streams from vehicle sensors, switches, and relays in real-time. The tool also boasted global OBD II Read/Erase Codes commands with manufacturer-specific definitions. Importantly, it included ABS code and definition coverage for most 1996-2013 GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai vehicles. Its large display and ergonomic design ensured ease of use in any automotive setting.

The OBD 1100 proved valuable for service writers needing quick diagnostics on incoming vehicles. Utilizing CAN and Bosch’s patented ‘TrueLink’ Technology, it guaranteed communication with every OBD II compliant vehicle (1996 and newer), ensuring fast and accurate diagnostic results. This reliable performance was crucial for efficient and effective vehicle repairs. While no longer available, the Bosch OBD 1100 exemplified the company’s commitment to providing quality diagnostic solutions.
