Kessy Lock Car While Running Tiguan VCDS: Troubleshooting Auto-Lock Issues

Enabling automatic door locking on a VW Tiguan with Kessy can offer convenience, but it can also present challenges. This article addresses a common issue: the doors locking too quickly after closing the driver’s door, preventing access to the rear passenger side. We’ll explore VCDS adaptations to potentially resolve this problem.

Adjusting Auto-Lock Timing with VCDS

The goal is to modify the auto-lock delay on a Tiguan equipped with Kessy using VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System). The following adaptations were initially made to activate the auto-lock feature and enable menu control:

  • 05 Acc/Start Auth > ENG129020-ENG126975-internal_passive_entry_exit_byte1-passive_exit_door_slam_lock > “activated” This enables the door slam locking feature.
  • 09 Cent. Elect. > ENG141654-ENG116634-ZV Autolock-Menuesteuerung ZV Autolock-Unlock > “adjustable” This allows adjustments to the auto-lock settings within the infotainment system.

While successful in activating the feature, the immediate locking presented a problem. Attempts were made to adjust the locking delay using the following adaptations:

  • 05 Acc/Start Auth > ENG108167-Passive Entry Exit: minimum activity time locking sensor > “2440 ms” This adaptation was changed from the default 140 ms to the maximum 2440 ms, attempting to increase the time the system waits before triggering the lock.
  • 05 Acc/Start Auth > ENG126962-settime_trigger_exit_vehicle > “5000 ms” This adaptation was changed from the default 500 ms to 5000 ms, also aiming to delay the locking action.

Unfortunately, neither of these adjustments produced the desired effect. The doors continued to lock immediately upon closing the driver’s door.

Further Exploration within VCDS

Other potentially relevant adaptations within the 05 Acc/Start Auth module were identified, although their impact on the auto-lock timing remains unclear:

  • ENG129023-ENG99711-internal_keyminder_byte2-Re-open last handling – Default setting: not activated. This setting might relate to re-opening the vehicle after locking.
  • ENG129015-Passive Entry Exit: control by pulling the door handle during active DSL_timeout – Default setting: 2.00 s. This might relate to the timeout period for unlocking the vehicle by pulling the door handle.
  • ENG129014-Timeout_trigger_terminal_deactivation_central_locking – Default setting: 1.00 s. This setting could be related to the deactivation of the central locking system.

Conclusion

While the initial VCDS adaptations successfully enabled automatic door locking on the Tiguan, fine-tuning the locking delay proved challenging. Modifying the minimum activity time locking sensor and settime_trigger_exit_vehicle did not resolve the issue of immediate locking. Further investigation into other adaptations within the 05 Acc/Start Auth module, particularly those related to timeouts and door handle control, may yield a solution. Community input and further experimentation are needed to pinpoint the correct adaptation for adjusting the auto-lock delay to a more practical duration.
