VCDS Jetta Radio To Stay On: Key Matching Procedures

Having trouble with your Jetta’s radio turning off? It might be related to your key fob. While this guide doesn’t directly address the “Vcds Jetta Radio To Stay On” issue, understanding key matching with VCDS is crucial for various convenience features, potentially including radio operation. This comprehensive guide outlines procedures for matching new radio-frequency remote controls to your Volkswagen or Audi vehicle using VCDS.

Matching Remote Controls with VCDS: Two Primary Methods

Before you begin, always refer to your vehicle’s Factory Repair Manual for specific instructions. Ross-Tech is not responsible for any damage resulting from these procedures.

You’ll need your VCDS interface and all the remotes you want to program. Here are two common methods:

Method 1: Using Adaptation Channels

  1. Connect VCDS and turn the ignition ON. Do not start the car.

  2. Select the appropriate module:

    • Go to [46 – Cent. Conv.] or [35 – Cent. Locking], depending on your vehicle. You can find the correct module for your specific car model in the Ross-Tech application guide.
  3. Access Adaptation: Go to [Adaptation – 10].

  4. Enter Channel “01” (or “21” for some Audis). Click [Read] to display the number of currently stored remotes.

  5. Enter the total number of keys (up to 4) in “New Value”. This includes existing and new keys. Click [Test] to verify, then [Save].

  6. Program each remote: Within 15 seconds, press and hold the UNLOCK button on each remote for at least one second. The car may acknowledge each successful match with flashing lights or a horn beep.

Method 2: Using Measuring Blocks (If Method 1 Fails)

This method is used when Adaptation Channel 01 or 21 is unavailable.

  1. Insert a working key in the ignition and turn to ON. Do not start the car.

  2. Select the appropriate module: Go to [46 – Cent. Conv.] or [35 – Cent. Locking].

  3. Access Measuring Blocks: Go to [Meas. Blocks – 08].

  4. Enter Group “003” (or “007” for some vehicles). Click [Go!]. Field 2 indicates the number and position of matched remotes (e.g., “0001” means one remote in position 1).

  5. Lock the car: Use the new, unmatched key in the driver-side door lock. You might need to hold the key in the unlock position for the next step.

  6. Program the new key: Within 5 seconds, press the UNLOCK button on the new key enough times to reach the next available memory position. For example, if Field 2 was “0001”, press the unlock button twice to program the new key to position 2. The car may acknowledge this.

  7. Unlock the door: Wait 5 seconds and press the unlock button on the new key.

  8. Cycle the ignition: Turn the key OFF, remove it, then press LOCK and UNLOCK with the new key. Re-insert the new key and turn the ignition ON.

  9. Verify the matching: Go back to [46 – Cent. Conv.] or [35 – Cent. Locking], then [Meas. Blocks – 08], and enter Group “003”. Field 2 should now show both keys matched in their respective positions. Ensure you program new keys to free memory positions (indicated by a “0”) to avoid overwriting existing keys.

Clearing Existing Matched Remotes

If necessary, you can clear all matched remotes:

  1. Select the appropriate module: Go to [46 – Cent. Conv.] or [35 – Cent. Locking].

  2. Access Adaptation: Go to [Adaptation – 10].

  3. Enter Channel “00”. Click [Read], then [Save]. Confirm by clicking [Yes] when prompted. This will erase all matched remotes, requiring you to reprogram them using one of the methods above.
