VCDS License w/ HEX-USB CAN Interface: Upgrade Options

For registered VCDS (VAG-COM) users, Ross-Tech offers various upgrade programs to purchase the latest products at a discounted price. These programs are exclusively for registered users who have previously purchased a genuine Ross-Tech interface directly from Ross-Tech, an authorized distributor/reseller, or a license for VCDS-Lite or an older VAG-COM version. New customers or unregistered users are not eligible.

This article outlines the available upgrade options for existing VCDS users. To determine the applicable upgrade path, identify your current setup and desired upgrade from the list below:

Upgrading from VCDS-Lite

VCDS-Lite with a 3rd Party Interface

If you currently have a VCDS-Lite license and a third-party interface, you can upgrade to the full version of VCDS with a current Ross-Tech interface. This upgrade provides access to the complete functionality of VCDS software with a compatible and supported hardware interface. Upgrade to full VCDS with a Ross-Tech Interface

VCDS-Lite with an Older Ross-Tech Interface

Users with a VCDS-Lite license and an older Ross-Tech “Dumb” Interface (ISO-COM, MAX-COM, UNI-COM, TWIN-COM, BI-COM) can upgrade to the full version of VCDS with a newer Ross-Tech Interface. Upgrading from an Older Ross-Tech Dongle

Owners of older Ross-Tech Dongle Interfaces (HEX-COM, HEX-USB, KEY-COM, KEY-USB, KII-USB, Micro-CAN, and HEX+CAN) are eligible to upgrade to the full version of VCDS with a newer Ross-Tech interface. Upgrading a Ross-Tech HEX+CAN Interface

If you have a Ross-Tech HEX+CAN Interface (HEX-USB+CAN or HEX-COM+CAN), you can upgrade to the full version of VCDS and VCDS-Mobile with a HEX-NET interface. This provides wireless functionality and access to VCDS-Mobile for mobile diagnostics. Upgrade to HEX-NET

Adding VIN Licenses to a Limited Enthusiast Interface

For users with a Limited VIN Enthusiast Interface (HEX-NET or HEX-V2), additional VIN licenses can be purchased to expand the number of vehicles that can be diagnosed. Add VIN Licenses

Upgrade Order Review Process

All upgrade orders are reviewed by Ross-Tech to ensure eligibility for the selected upgrade program. Payment processing occurs after the review is completed. Ross-Tech will contact you via email if any issues arise. Turnaround time for trade-in upgrades is typically 2-3 business days from receipt of your old interface.
