The ice warning system utilizes predefined temperature thresholds. When the thermistor’s resistance surpasses a specific value, indicating a low temperature, the ice warning is activated. Typically, two thresholds are employed to prevent the alarm from fluctuating rapidly. However, altering these settings without proper understanding can lead to unintended consequences.

However, this approach is not recommended as it eliminates the functionality of the ambient temperature sensor and ice warning, potentially compromising safety.

Finding the Right Resistance Value

Determining the appropriate fixed resistance value requires experimentation. Start with a resistor value significantly lower than the factory thermistor’s typical resistance at freezing temperatures. Incrementally increase the resistance until the ice warning ceases to trigger. This method is trial-and-error and may not provide a satisfactory outcome.
