Saab ISAT Scan Tool: DIY Diagnostics for Your Saab

The Saab Isat Scan Tool, a dealer-level diagnostic tool, can be replicated for DIY use. While the replicated version may not have every Saab-specific code the dealer version possesses, it still offers substantial diagnostic capabilities. This guide explores a community-driven project aimed at building a more accessible and affordable Saab scan tool.

Replicating the Saab ISAT Scan Tool

Initial tests on a 1995 Saab 900 CSE 2.0 LPT with a Trionic ECU confirm the functionality of the DIY scan tool. Further testing on other models, like a K-reg 2.3 HPT, is planned. The project’s goal is to create a refined circuit board for a cleaner, more user-friendly setup.

Collaborative Development: A Call to Action

To accelerate development and share knowledge, a collaborative approach is proposed. Free circuit boards will be provided in exchange for contributions to the project:

Website for Information Sharing:

A central website is needed to host circuit diagrams, engine codes, software, and other relevant information related to the Saab scan tool and Trionic engine management systems. This platform will serve as a knowledge base for the community.

Windows-Based Software Development:

User-friendly Windows software is crucial for interfacing with the hardware. Contributors with software development skills are encouraged to create and share their applications on the central website.

Windows CE Software for Mobile Diagnostics:

Development of Windows CE software will enable Saab diagnostics using handheld devices, offering portability and convenience. This branch of the project already has a volunteer.

Trionic Wiring Diagram:

A comprehensive Trionic wiring diagram is a highly sought-after resource. Providing this diagram would significantly aid in understanding the system and troubleshooting issues.

This collaborative effort aims to empower Saab owners with affordable diagnostic tools and a wealth of shared knowledge. By contributing expertise and resources, we can create a comprehensive resource for maintaining and repairing these vehicles.
